HEROES OF THE HORIZON -

The Story That Started It All

1979.
South China Sea.

A small wooden tugboat. Twenty-seven souls aboard. Adrift.

Among them was a young man named Dat Dang and his family — part of the generation history would come to know as the Boat People. Out of food, out of water, far from any safe shore.

Then a United States Navy guided-missile destroyer pulled alongside — the USS Lynde McCormick (DDG-8) — and offered the resupply that would carry them to a refugee camp, and to the chance of a new life in America.

One act of kindness. One ship. One family whose lives, and the lives of every generation after them, were changed forever.

If it weren’t for the help we received from the USS McCormick, I don’t know where my family would be today.
— Dat Dang, Founder

How We Serve

three pillars.

one mission.

Programs that translate gratitude into operational impact — for families, for communities, and for the legacy we leave behind.

Someone, somewhere, changed a life forever

Maybe it was 1979 in the South China Sea. Maybe it was last Tuesday. Either way — we believe in paying it forward. Will you?
